Fall Book Club Reads
The past four novels I’ve read are all ideal for fall reading. Let’s take a closer look:
Here One Moment by Liane Moriarty features an absolutely chilling premise: a woman tells everyone on a plane how and when they will die. The reader then follows several passengers and the woman in the months to come. While a bit dramatic with some odd story choices, I overall found this to be an interesting and unique read. The Night We Lost Him by Laura Dave is about two estranged siblings who band together to find out the truth of what happened the night their father died. While not as addicting as The Last Thing He Told Me, I still found this one to serve as a compelling family saga about the truths people hide. It’s quite atmospheric and a great one for fall. The Life Impossible by Matt Haig is an extremely unique story about a 72-year-old widow who inherits a house in Ibiza and experiences the adventure of a lifetime. This is the follow-up to the hugely successful The Midnight Library, and while this one missed the mark in areas, and definitely got strange at times, I still found it quite charming and endearing. All the Colors of the Dark by Chris Whitaker is literary suspenseful novel that tries to cover multiple genres. A thriller, coming-of-age tale, multiple love stories, lots of tragedies, tracking a serial killer, and then it also spans decades so it’s also trying its hand at historical fiction too. While I did enjoy aspects, I also was let down too as it tried to pack too much into one story. Full review here. Book club questions here.
Ranking the Best Books by Liane Moriarty
With the release of Here One Moment, I thought it would be fun to revisit all the books written by Liane Moriarty. My favorite of hers is still Big Little Lies, I read it years before the show premiered. But she has so many other good reads as well. Check out my ranking list here.

Next Reads
I’m planning to read two very different books next!
First up is The Blue Hour, the latest novel by Paula Hawkins, who is best known for The Girl on the Train. This book received a ton of buzzy hype at the ALA Conference this past summer so I’m quite intrigued. It takes place on an island with only one house, one inhabitant, one way out.
And following up will be the start of my holiday reading season: The Christmas Countdown by Holly Cassidy. This is a holiday rom com about a young, recently heartbroken woman who is tasked by her sister to complete Advent calendar challenges in the lead up to Christmas to reignite her belief in herself, the holidays, and love again.
I’ll let you all know what I think about both of these!
